Currently I’ve completed a work of fiction entitled The Power of Pie, which is set in the Washington, DC area. It’s main character, Reliance Anderson, is a former San Francisco celebrity chef famous for her magical touch with food, who, after four years of widowed seclusion, is desperate to get her mojo back. But she has no clue how to take the first, scary step. Until she receives a cryptic message from her dead husband, encouraging her to teach a cooking class in her home. To start the class, her best friend and prodigy, Desi Meyer, proposes enlisting students from her black book of contacts: three trophy wives and their gay best friends. Reliance thinks it’s a recipe for disaster. Desi promises it’ll be hilarious. But as the wine flows, Reliance’s kitchen ignites with six fiery personalities, making her face the most volatile flambé of her storied career. As their practiced facades fracture and their darkest secrets spill, she questions if the class is the biggest mistake of her life.
